Dr Jason Fung completed both medical school and an internal medicine residency at the University of Toronto before heading to the University of California, Los Angeles completing his fellowship in nephrology. He is currently practicing in Toronto, Canada.

During the course of treating thousands of patients, it became clear that the current epidemic of type 2 diabetes and obesity was getting worse. Medical treatments were focused on the symptoms of the disease rather than the disease itself.  As dietary diseases, obesity and diabetes required dietary treatments. But the current dietary recommendations were clearly ineffective.

Reviewing the available scientific literature, more effective and simpler dietary solutions were devised. He founded the Intensive Dietary Management Program that provides a unique treatment focus for Type 2 Diabetes and obesity.
